Looking Ahead With Lauren: My Favorite Yoga Poses

Yoga is a great stress reliever. For me, it is a great way to take myself away from my computer and work and take a break and release some of that tension that builds up over the week. Today I will share with you some of my favorite yoga poses and why I love them.



I love the Warrior poses. For me, it makes me feel like an actual warrior – like I can do anything! It is a great stretch for legs and I think helps me as a newbie runner.


Child’s pose is a great relaxing pose. For me, this pose is great when you just need a minute to take a deep breath and calm down or great when you have bad cramps. I also love this pose when my back is hurting because at times it adjusts my back a little bit.


Downward Dog is a classic yoga pose. While I am not quite flexible enough to do it perfectly, it is a pose that helps me to understand that you don’t have to be perfect to do yoga. It is a great pose to come back to to stretch.


I love this pose and other back bend poses like this. I tend to get a lot of tension in my shoulders and chest and doing back bends can release that tension that builds up. This is a great pose if you spend a lot of time hunched over at a computer.

  1. Yes, I agree! These are great poses: I adore “Child’s Pose’ and “Downward Dog,” too, and another version of ‘Warrior Pose.” I have to be careful with my knees, though, and the backbend is one asana I have not tried in eons!
