SAVE THE DATE: Mark your calendars for September 14, 2012 for the 3rd Annual Haven Garden Project Wine Tasting to support The Haven Garden. This year it will be hosted in the hip, newly opening restaurant, Local Kitchen and Bar in Ferndale! The new restaurant will use as much locally grown food as possible and will create “extremely well-crafted comfort food”. Our very own, Rick Halberg will be the owner and chef of this casual restaurant on Nine Mile Road.
The restaurant will include a four-season patio with a wood-burning fireplace, a large bar and main dining area and a community table. The design will allow for open-air dining in the summer and upstairs will hold a banquet space able to hold 175 people.
Halberg says he wants this new restaurant to be very casual with accessible pricing, great local beer and good craft cocktails. And of course great food!

The HAVEN Garden Project is a collaborative half-acre organic micro farm and educational space located in Pontiac, Michigan at the HAVEN-Oakland Emergency shelter. The Garden Project serves the HAVEN Community by providing fresh organic produce on a weekly basis to shelter residents and off-site clients; coordinating the preservation and storage of harvested produce; and offering agriculture education and garden stewardship opportunities to youth and adults.
