Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center is holding a Winter Hike and Cook-Out Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 10 a.m.

Everyone will hit the trails to look for signs of winter wildlife. Afterwards, from noon-1 p.m., it’s lunchtime, with a cookout in the works. Be sure to bring hot dogs, drinks, chips and whatever else your party wants to enjoy for lunch in the park. Then everyone will gather around the fire for dessert: A marshmallow roast!

Be sure to dress for the weather, and bring walking sticks or ski poles, too.

Pre-registration is appreciated, but not necessary. If you have questions, call 586-323-2478.

Cost is $2 for adults, $1 for kids 4-12, and free for anyone younger than that.

Join Jackson at Ken Jackson’s Fitness Factory in Shelby Township on Feb. 25 from 1-2:30 p.m. for a free nutrition seminar entitled “Building a Healthier You Through Exercise and Nutrition.”

The seminar is open to the public and offers the dos and don’ts of fitness and nutrition. Jackson will go through nutrition essentials for both men and women who are looking to lose weight, feel better and maintain healthier lifestyles.

“There are many common myths in the fitness world about the right nutrition to truly increase the results of your exercise,” said Jackson. “I will be sharing some of the essential nutrition tools that I use with the people I train for optimal overall health and fitness.”

Whether on a current weight loss or exercise regime, or looking to start for the first time, this seminar will offer tips. Jackson will also be giving key points on teenagers and fitness for those 16 and up who are training for sports and athletics.

Jackson, recently signed with Gaspari nutrition and a national representative for the supplement brand, will also be giving away free samples of the latest nutritional supplements.
