My Love For Great Music (Bonus) Allison’s Wonderful World Playlist

Who doesn’t love great music ?

” Music has a powerful effect on our emotions. Parents know that a quiet, gentle lullaby can soothe a fussy baby. And a majestic chorus can make us swell with excitement.” ~Diane Bales, Ph.D.

For me, the right music choice can add a magical energy to the entire experience of teaching or working out.  Good music; although quite personal, can often make or break a class. We’ve all been there! When you’re all pumped up for a kick-ass workout or energizing yoga class and the music just kills it. Even though the teacher may be your personal favorite and the flow is wonderful – when the music is awful, there goes the experience you were hoping for. If my energy or flow feels off,  but the music is pleasing – the class hangs on.  The music I select for my classes is so important that I will spend hours perusing the web, listening to new and old songs until I find the perfect mix of tunes for the classes I’m teaching. Granted, not every song  or playlist “brings it home,” but I will bend over backwards trying.  The combination of good people, good energy and a good playlist is…music to my ears!

Every now and then, I will post playlists for yoga, fitness classes or working out solo. I hope you enjoy my selections. If not, I won’t take it personally (one of the four agreements) because music is very personal and there are thousands of music options for your listening pleasure.

“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” ~ Billy Joel

    Hi Allison,
I am a music nut…I think last count was about 10,000 download itunes songs. I will take you up on sending a few suggested songs for one of your future playlist. I always enjoy the music you play in your yoga classes.
    The very best.

  2. Dearest Allsion, what a great list and wonderful ideas—I have trouble sending e-mails to the web site due to the new code and something about ‘plug ins.’

I adore Cat Stevens! In fact, “Wild World’ is on my all time favorite CD Tea for the Tillerman. Your list is really eclectic, and I’ll suggest a few I adore; Loreena Mc Kennitt ( some of her tunes are awesome) Kate Bush has some nice sounds, Paul Hardcastle and the Jazz Master’s, and Sade’s back up group —Sweet Back.
    Hugs,
    S~
