Over the past decade, Congress has strengthened the penalties for and closed major loopholes in the federal animal fighting law, yet there is a remaining gap in the law that should be corrected to allow for a more comprehensive crackdown on this barbaric activity. It’s time to close that gap and make it a crime to knowingly attend an animal fighting venture. Representatives Tom Marino (R-PA) and Betty Sutton (D-OH) have introduced H.R. 2492 to prohibit knowing attendance at an animal fighting event and bringing a minor to such an event.
Please make a brief, polite phone call to your U.S. Representative to urge cosponsorship of H.R. 2492. Look up your legislator’s phone number. You can say: “I would like you to please cosponsor H.R. 2492 to prohibit knowing attendance at an animal fighting event and bringing a minor to such a cruel event.”
After making your phone call (please do not skip that crucial step!), fill in and submit the form below to automatically send a follow-up message to your U.S. Representative. Congress receives a lot of email, so be sure to edit your message so it stands out.
