Many natural health professionals are promoting the good benefits of taking one day per week to fast. But what kind of fasting is best? Water only? The answer is No.
Juice fasting one day per week can be very beneficial. You can supply your body with enough nutrients so that you don’t break down your muscle tissue of deplete the sugar stores in your liver and muscles. Why is this helpful anyway? We all need to eliminate toxin buildup caused from our foods, water and air.  Giving your digestion and organs a “rest” from foods and drinks other than your juicing is actually quite healing, even if its only one day.
The liver, kidneys, skin and lungs will appreciate a one day a week fast of freshly squeezed veggie and fruit juices of no added sugars. Try to use only organic fruits and veggies if you can afford to.
If you need a more complete cleanse to rid your body of toxins from heavy metals, gastrointestinal problems, liver cleansing or any other reason then there are some great products on the market that do not cause gastrointestinal discomfort (or the need to stay home during) that are for a longer period of time — around 3 weeks. Those should be done by all persons twice a year.
