Free Boater Safety Class

  • The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit is offering a free boater safety class today.

    The class is open to anyone 12 years and older.  Boater safety certificates are required for anyone who is born after December 31, 1978 who wants to operate a power boat of personal watercraft.

    Participants who complete this 6 hour course will receive a certificate.

Day on the Town

  • Annual retail and entertainment event features vehicle-free streets and sidewalk sales of clearance items and special-purchase merchandise. Details:

    • Live music at the Center Stage all day.
    • Bike parade: Decorated bikes judging at 8:30 a.m. at the Center Stage.
    • Kidz Zone: creative activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • No traffic: Old Woodward shut from Willits to Brown. Maple closed from Bates to Peabody.

  • Calling all car lovers! Grace Centers of Hope is once again raffling off a classic car to raise funds to provide food, clothing and shelter for the homeless in Southeast Michigan. This year we will be raffling off a stunning 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle with unique Chrome Illusion custom paint that changes from gold, to green, then to blue in the light. Green Breeze Green Living Fair

  • The city of Utica is holding its 21st annual Old Mill Arts & Crafts Festival this weekend.

  • Event dates and times are July 23, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and July 24, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The show is held at the city’s Grant Park, on Hahn Street, east of Van Dyke and four blocks north of Hall Road.

    Besides arts and crafts on display and for sale, there will also be a silent auction.
