Tip #9

Think back to a time when you were really happy. Perhaps you are now and that’s great! If you’re not, sit down and think hard about a time when you were loving life. What were you doing at the time? Who were you surrounded by? Perhaps you had a job you loved, but got laid off due to the economy. Maybe you had a hobby that you’ve given up because you don’t have time anymore. Perhaps you were surrounded by many friends that you haven’t called in a while. Whatever it is, write it down. Make a list of at least 10 things that make you really happy and things you excel at that you might not necessarily be doing.

Now make them happen! There are little steps you can do to bring yourself back to happiness. For example, say your list says you had a job designing websites but had children and quit to be a stay at home mom. Search around and see if anyone needs help designing a website – you can carry out your passion again in your free time and maybe make some extra cash! Don’t have enough time to do it for someone else? Make a website for fun whenever you can! It might spark something BIG!

Make the hobbies you love a priority. Take the time to call old friends you had great times with and relive your memories. Take a chance and go for your dream job or dream guy. Don’t sit around and wait for happiness to come to you – go out and grab it by doing the things you love! You deserve to be the person you always wanted to be!

  1. This is MY stumbling block! I was a caretaker for too long to remember how happiness feels, but I am on a journey, lately, and I have set this time aside to be good to myself–thank you for TIP 9; it is an essential one.
