97.1 The Ticket Hosts Detroit Tigers Opening Day Block Party on Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
97.1 The Ticket will celebrate an annual spring ritual, the Detroit Tigers Home Opener, with an Opening Day Block Party in Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
97.1 The Ticket — the radio home for Tigers Baseball — will be hosting the Block Party including live music from Sgt. Rock on the Music Stage before and after the game, interactive games, and merchandise in the Vendor Village. Â Party goers will also be able to get autographs from Detroit Tigers alumni Jon Warden and Rick Leach from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and Pat Sheridan and Dave Rozema from 1:30-2:30 p.m. There will also be an opportunity to hang out in the View and Brew Tent with a cold beverage and watch the game on the TV screens or on the big screen in the Park.
Broadcasts from 97.1 The Ticket’s Doug Karsch and Scott “The Gator” Anderson will originate from Grand Circus Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by Mike Valenti and Terry Foster at 2 p.m. from Gate A at Comerica Park. Â Tune to 97.1 The Ticket for pre-game coverage beginning at 2:40 p.m followed by the play-by-play action with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price at 3:05 p.m. when the Detroit Tigers take on the Kansas City Royals.
“This is an unofficial holiday for baseball fans in Detroit,” said Jimmy Powers, Program Director for 97.1 The Ticket. “It’s something we all look forward to because it means warmer weather is fast approaching. The Block Party is our way of creating a fun atmosphere for everyone to come downtown to kickoff the baseball season.”
In addition, other members of the CBS RADIO Detroit family will be broadcast from the Block Party. 104.3 WOMC’s Jim Johnson will playing Detroit’s Greatest Hits from 10-3 p.m. and 99.5 WYCD’s Chuck Edwards and Linda Lee will be entertaining country music fans from 3-7 p.m. Â 98.7 AMP Radio will be playing all Detroit’s hit music throughout the day.
