What are you working for? Do you have an ideal, a goal, a view of the greater good motivating your everyday work? Are you working for the money, to pay your bills and accrue vacation time?Â I was the latter for the longest time — I had to work and I grumbled about it for years, feeling tired, under-appreciated and afraid that I’d never have enough.Â And then I discovered a still, small voice saying what I knew deep inside but had never been quiet enough to hear.

My ideal: to give a voice to those who have not found theirs and to help them be heard.Â What a difference it makes working for an ideal that benefits others than just a mere paycheck!Â Believe it or not, in high school I was voted class gossip — and boy did that designation hurt. Me, a gossip? Idle chatter? My nose in everyone else’s private affairs?Â And so I slodged through a journalistic career, thinking I was the same gossip, taking the stories of others and benefiting from them.Â But no! I was giving a voice to those who needed, deserved to be heard!Â And I am doing that today. Yes, I am interested in people’s stories — because people are fascinating! Because the details of how we live are intriguing and we can all learn from one another.
My teacher, whom I’ve never met, Swamiji as he’s called by those who are close to him, is coming to Detroit to launch his new book, which I am nearly finished with. Hats off to this great thinker — I cannot wait to hear him speak.

In order to succeed in business, you must develop concentration, consistency and cooperation.
Concentration is the art of focusing the mind in the present. (Stop worrying!)
Consistency = using your intellect to overcome the mind’s distractions and keep the actions going in the set direction. The technique of channelizing your actions toward the goal is consistency.
Cooperation means working together, dummy, all for the greater good!
