The Elephant in the Living Room is a documentary film to be released to theatres in early 2011. This is a “not to be missed” film about the American subculture of raising the most dangerous animals in the world as pets in peoples’ homes. The director, Michael Webber, follows the journey of two men; one, a police officer, firefighter and paramedic, whose mission is to protect exotic animals and the public, part of the job he’s had for many years and the other, a man who struggles to keep his two African lions that he’s raised since they were bottle-fed cubs.
The Elephant in the Living Room has won Best Documentary at the Traverse City Film Festival and the Sedona International Film Festival. This film has been said to be “heroic, well balanced and revealing” in it’s insight into the rarely seen subculture of exotic pet ownership in the U.S.
I can’t wait to see it! And please tell me no one really has an elephant in their living room!
