Food and Mood: Hydration

shapeimage_25This Week: Food for a happy mood

Make smart food choices this season to keep your mood on the up side and a smile on your face. Each week we will give you a helpful tip for eating happy! Post them on your refrigerator so they will be in your face!

Stay well hydrated

Pay attention

Dehydration can cause havoc in your life! Proper Hydration will keep you feeling and looking your best.

12598295-567x847Think of a gorgeous plump plum. Loaded with water, the plum is perfectly smooth, beautifully shaped, deeply colored, luscious and juicy. What happens to the plum when the dehydrators suck the water out? The plum is no longer pretty and plump. The plum is shriveled and dried up. The plum is not gorgeous anymore. Get it?

Please try to drink 6-8 glasses of water each day. Eat tons of watery fruits and vegetables to support your fluid intake. Fill a basket with colorful fruits and vegetables and leave it on your kitchen counter. This will remind you to eat them and it looks beautiful. Beautiful things makes us feel happy. Enjoy a salad every day loaded with colorful vegetables and a variety of mixed greens.

13121585-1386x1386Healthy homemade soups loaded with your favorite veggies are a perfect choice. Nutritious and delicious…soup is good for your heart and soul!  Watch out for salt demons! Stick with fresh foods and opt for yummy healthy herbs instead of salt. Treat yourself everyday to your favorite hot tea. Add a slice of lemon or a cinnamon stick for extra flavor, fun and nutrition. Make your plain glass of water exciting and new. Drink it hot or cold. Add a wedge of lemon, lime and a slice of orange. Top it off with a maraschino cherry!

Eat many healthy water-filled foods each day. Feel and be happy! Check back next week for another happy mood food tip!

With love, Allison
