Boots
Boots have always been a fall fashion staple and this autumn is no different. This year’s “it” shoe is the above-the-knee boot. You can’t go wrong with leather or suede in a muted color, and lately country waders have been making a comeback. Wear them over skinny jeans or with a mini for a very of-the- moment look.
Leggings
If you haven’t jumped on the leggings bandwagon yet, now is the time to hop on. Whether you fancy shiny and leather or matte and cotton, leggings come in just about every color and texture and are universally flattering. Just make sure you wear them as leggings, not pants. Pair them with a long top or dress that covers your bum.
Velvet
It’s a heavier fabric, perfect for cooler weather. Blazers, vests and tailored pants are your best bets for pulling off the look. They look great in traditional autumn color palettes: try auburn, pumpkin, squash, sage green, gold or classic black.
Leather
Leather is everywhere this fall, showing up on leggings, pants, dresses and of course, boots. Soft, layered, textured or ruched: as long as it’s black and leather, it’s hot this fall.
Asymmetrical Tops
They were everywhere on the red carpet this winter, and it looks like the they’re coming back this fall for round two. One-shouldered dresses are sleek, elegant and add the perfect twist to a plain cocktail dress.
Boyfriend Jackets
Oversized boyfriend jackets are back. A favorite menswear trend due to it’s versatility, boyfriend jackets can dress up or dress down a look, paired with jeans or a dress. Get one in wool, velvet, tweed or plaid for a truly on-trend ensemble.
Draping
Dresses and tops draped in shades of mauve, cream and sage look stunning, as they emphasize curves and highlight your body’s shape. As an elegant look, the style is best reserved for evenings out.
