You say you only have 20-30 minutes for exercise? Here is a quick cardio, fat burning and bone building workout!
Get on your walking shoes, ladies!
What you need:
- Walking or running shoes
- A sidewalk, quiet street or parking lot
- Great Music/Ipod
The workout:
5 minutes walking warmup…move your arms!
Power walk the length of two long blocks. This should be twice as fast as your warmup pace. Move your arms. Add light weights for an extra boost! Approx. 5 minutes or less
Backwards power walk! Look straight ahead. Slight bend in the knees. Hold your belly in for stability. Make sure the street is a smooth surface. It is very important to pick your feet up and push off with each step. Backwards walking is great for toning your butt and thighs. One of my favorites! Approx. 5 minutes or less
Sideways Leap! Stand sideways and lead with your right leg first. Keep your eyes straight ahead. Leap with your hands clasped together in front of your face. Do this for the length of 1 entire long block. Repeat leading with your left leg. Awesome for your inner and outer thighs! Approx. 5 minutes or less
Speed walk! Much faster than a power walk. Use a short stride with arms pumping forward at your side. Proper Heel and toe action of the foot is required here. Heel strike first and roll off the ball of your foot. Turn your toes in slightly and feel the constant rotation of your hips. I love this movement. 5 minutes or less
3-5 minute cool down walk and stretch!
